Cyber Security Summit, Crook County, Oregon

On Friday, November 2, 2012 Crook County, Oregon will be hosting their first Cyber Security Summit at the Central Oregon Community College, Crook County Open Campus. In case you’re not familiar with Crook County, Oregon this is where Facebook has one of their large data centers and Apple and Google own land here that they both plan to develop for future data centers. Representatives from the State of Oregon, Dept. of Homeland Security, Intel, the FBI, along with others will serve on panels. There will be two sessions:

    • 8:30 AM – Welcome, Congressman Walden and Seth Crawford, Commissioner, Crook County, Oregon.
    • 9:00 AM – Current Threats in an Increasingly Networked World.
    • Moderator: Steve Dougill, Directory, Crook County IT Department
    • Panelists: Theresa Masse, CISO, State of Oregon
    • Glenn Collins, Protective Security Adviser, US Dept. of Homeland Security
    • John Pritchard, IT Security Manager, St. Charles Hospital
    • Intel Representative
    • Bend Broadband Representative
    • Details: The panelists will examine current trends and emerging threats in cycbersecurity and discuss best practices for individuals, industry, and government to become more resilient and secure.
    • 10:30 AM – Networking break.
    • 11:00 AM – Measures to Protect Your Organization, Family, and Yourself.

    • Panelists: Michael Sweeney, Special Agent, FBI
    • Mary Moffit, Intelligence Officer – Oregon, US Dept. of Homeland Security
    • Oregon State Representative
    • Local Police Department
    • Regional Bank
    • Details: The panelists will discuss the current state of computer and intellectual property crimes. What are the tactics, techniques and procedures and what are the best practices for individuals, industry and government to avoid becoming a target.
